Ed was introduced to the beauty and natural resources of Cape Hatteras National Seashore Recreation Area over 20 years ago and has been a regular visitor as often as time has permitted. On occasion work has kept him from enjoying as many visits as he would have liked. However, 2015 allowed him to retire from a successful law enforcement career. Throughout the years, he has watched with great interest the struggles over access and preservation, the lawsuits and the negative impact of the entire saga. He decided to run for the Board to help continue the positive effort that NCBBA has so professionally and graciously undertaken with their efforts through the political approach to this process. Having ended his career as the chief of police, he feels that he brings a keen insight of management, budget and direction that may be a new positive for the Board. As chief, he certainly had to navigate politics on a daily basis. Being retired, he will have the time to devote to the necessary meetings and planning sessions and other functions that make NCBBA the effective, respected and professional organization it has become.
